Update: Why I've added an AI-disclaimer

Trust is the ultimate currency. That's why Hype Decoder has a state of independence editorial policy, including AI-disclaimer. Read it here.

Why a genAI disclaimer is a must to have in your editorial policy.

With my upcoming analyst newsletter I want to be sure my readers know my process.

Since I’m educated as a journo, I know how important standards and transparency are. That’s why I’ve created a state of independence policy. I’ve loosely based it on the NVJ code with some exceptions.

Why? I’m not gathering news, I’m doing analysis. There is a big difference.

So no view from nowhere from me. And neither the dreaded he said/she said journalism that does nothing but parrot the press releases from both sides.

However, having quality sources and NOT spreading misinformation are things I WILL adhere to.

When it comes to genAI, I’m a big believer of disclosing where and how I use it in my processes.

Since most of the samey-same AI-slop posts you see on social are generated by some LLM, you have to assume many readers have their doubts about what is worth their time.

Is it some random analysis by some lazy AI-bro(ette) who pushed a button?

Or is it carefully put together by a professional who knows what he’s talking about? Someone who knows how to qualify sources or how to actually write.

That’s why you need a policy with that disclaimer.

Head on over to Hype Decoder's state of independence policy to read it.

Every now and again I'm publishing short updates about Hype Decoder. Topics range from business updates to the techie subjects that come with operating an online publication. Think of it as behind the scenes coverage. The analyses themselves have a different format.
